What is Leccy Steam?

Our Mission

There are no shortage of blogs, forums, groups and websites dedicated to railway modelling and the heritage rail world, and no shortage of self-proclaimed experts with the ability to put off new starters, even with the best of intentions. We don't want to replicate this, we instead want to share our experiences, good and bad to help others with recently ignited enthusiasm into the hobbies, and provide the information that we found was missing.

We aim to plug the gaps

We are a small collective of amateur modellers and preserved railway volunteers from outside the rail industry with full-time jobs, young families, not enough time and, crucially, money, with a primary interest in locomotives, and very much still learning about the wider railway system. Our interest in modelling is in the aesthetics and escapism rather than rivet counting.

We are UK-based, and as such have a natural bias towards British outline modelling and preservation, but we would love to hear from, and have an interest in, amateur railway modellers and volunteers beginning their own stories all across the world.
